Back to School Forms for 2019-2020 School Year Now Available

Dear St. Charles Parish School Families,                                          August 2019

Back-to-School forms for the 2019-2020 School Year at St. Charles Parish School are now available.

Please READ this letter first to learn about important information for each form.

All forms need to be printed and signed and one form is electronic and will be completed online. All forms are due to the School Office by Monday, Aug. 19. 

The School Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. If the School Office is closed there will be a tray outside the locked doors. Please place the forms in the tray. Please note the outer door of the School Office will be open from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday so that you can drop off forms in the tray outside of office hours.

We ask that you please take time to read each letter and form carefully.

For information about uniforms please read the Family Handbook. For parents buying the plaid jumpers and skirts for their daughter here are the links to the websites on Lands' End where they can be ordered. The color of the skirts and jumpers is Evergreen/White Plaid.

We look forward to seeing all of our students and families on Monday, Aug. 26 at the Meet and Greet. Please come between 12 pm and 6 pm to drop off school supplies, meet teachers, organize desks and lockers and take school photos. This is a mandatory day of school and attendance will be taken. Please allow at least one hour to complete all of these tasks.

School Supply List for the 2019-2020 School Year

Summer vacation is in full bloom and while we still have more than six weeks before the start of the 2019-2020 School Year we know there are some families who would like to buy school supplies now as the sales begin at local stores.

The School Supply List for all grades from 3K through 8th Grade is HERE.

Please bring the items on the School Supply List for your child's grade to the Meet and Greet on Monday, Aug. 26 anytime between the hours of 12 pm and 6 pm. This is a student contact day and attendance will be taken. Plan on your child being at school for about an hour as he or she completes individual tasks during the Meet and Greet and takes school pictures. Parents are asked to stay with their child during this time.

The first day of class is Tuesday, Aug. 27. It is a full day of school and all classes begin at 8:25 am. The first bell rings at 8:15 am.

New Hot Lunch Program at St. Charles Parish School

Dear Parents,

I hope your summer continues to be relaxing for your children and your families.

I'm writing today to let you know about our new hot lunch program as there are significant changes from last year.

As I stated in previous Weekly Rundowns, our new hot lunch provider is 4 P's in a Pod. We are excited to welcome this new vendor to St. Charles Parish School and we look forward to working with them.

One major change is that all hot lunches must be pre-ordered well in advance. No longer will there be onsite ordering the day your student wants hot lunch. Every hot lunch must be ordered weeks ahead of time. We know it will take time to adjust to the new system but we are confident that the changes will fall into place before long.

If you would like to order hot lunch for your child in August and September, please visit the 4 P's in a Pod website and create an account.

Please know that all hot lunch orders and payments are handled through your account with 4 P's in a Pod.No hot lunch orders will be billed through TADS. All hot lunch orders will be handled through 4 P's in a Pod and all payments are between families and 4 P's in a Pod.

Milk is not offered through 4 P's in a Pod but students can receive milk from the school for $0.05 for each milk (same as last year). All milk charges will continue to be billed through TADS and students can take a milk during lunch any time they would like. There is no pre-ordering for milk. For students who don't want milk, a water jug and cups will be available during each lunch period.

It is recommended that families set up accounts for all their children even if they don't order hot lunch during the first month of school. It's better to create the accounts now to allow for easier ordering down the road. We ask that you please take time now to set up the account. 

All lunch orders for the months of August (Aug. 27- Aug 30) and September at due by Thursday, Aug. 15. Please order before this deadline. Late orders are subject to a late fee and please know the School Office will not be able to place late orders for students. Once again, the ordering and payment is between our school families and 4 P's in a Pod. The School Office will not have access to the accounts set up by families.

As we move ahead families will order hot lunches about a month in advance. Each month families will receive an email from 4 P's in a Pod announcing that the menu for the following month is available and lunches can be ordered. 

Be sure to note on your personal calendars when your child is getting hot lunch and when your child is having a cold lunch. It's important that parents keep track of the days their children are receiving hot lunch.

I know this is a big change but I'm certain the transition will be smooth.

Save the Dates for Beginning of 2019-2020 School Year

Summer is in full swing but don't despair as there are still a few more weeks of vacation remaining for our kids.

The following are items to mark on your calendar for the 2019-2020 School Year:

July: Make selections for hot lunches in August and September. There is a new hot lunch vendor and all lunches must be pre-ordered about a month in advance. Look for a separate email during the week of July 8. Also during the week of July 8 School Supply lists for each grade will be available. Those lists will be emailed to parents and also posted on the school website.

Mid-July: Tuition Agreements and Contracts sent to families through TADS; please promptly set up your payment schedule.

Weeks of Aug. 5 and Aug. 12: Back-to-School forms can be returned to the School Office. Forms will be available online beginning Aug. 5. We ask that all forms be returned by Monday, Aug. 19.

Sunday, Aug. 18: Ice Cream Social for New Families and Buddy Families beginning at 4 pm on the playground.

Monday, Aug. 26: Meet and Greet and first day of the school year; students must come to school between 12 pm and 6 pm to drop off supplies, meet their teachers and take pictures. 

Tuesday, Aug. 27: First day of classes and a full day of school. The first bell rings at 8:15 am and the second bell at 8:25 am. 

Friday, Aug. 30: First All-School Mass and 8th Grade Commissioning Mass beginning at 8:30 am. Please join us!

Wednesday, Sept 4: Parent Information Night for students in 3K through 4th Grades in the Borromeo Room and classrooms.

Wednesday, Sept. 11: Parent Information Night for students in 5th through 8th Grades in the STEM Lab and classrooms.

St. Charles Parish School Graduate Named Marquette High School Valedictorian

Congratulations to St. Charles Parish School 2015 Graduate and recent Marquette University High School Graduate Michael Rose who was selected from a class of 231 students as Valedictorian for the Class of 2019. 

Michael, son of Monte and Lynn Rose, finished his academic career at MUHS with a 4.09 GPA.

MUHS noted, "It is also an affirmation of the formation provided by St. Charles prior to him being a student at Marquette University High School."

St. Charles is very proud of Michael for his outstanding accomplishments and his continued service to St. Charles. This year he initiated and led the Science Olympiad program at St. Charles.

We wish him well as he will attend the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California in the fall.

St. Charles graduates have a history of reaching top honors once they enter high school. Other Salutorians and Valedictorians in recent years include:
