Dec. 3, 2018                                                            The Week Ahead

Reminders for the full week ahead and a few items for the following week as well:

Silent Entrance Monday Morning, Dec. 3: For the second consecutive year we will have a Silent Entrance and Silent Exit during Advent. It is with joyful anticipation we prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ through the season of Advent. To mark this season of waiting, St. Charles Parish School will bookend the next three weeks with a Silent Entrance on Monday mornings and Silent Dismissals on Friday afternoons.

As students enter school on Monday mornings during Advent on Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, the dimmed lights will remind them to remain silent as they prepare themselves for the day. Teachers will hold battery-operated candles and encourage students to complete their normal morning routines in silence.

On Friday afternoons Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21, students will leave their classrooms in silence. We encourage students to maintain this silence until they are in the car or on the bus.

We ask for your prayers during Advent as these times of silence will help our students to pause, wait and prepare our hearts for the birth of the Lord.

Also, there are many, many opportunities to attend Mass (the parish adds a weekday 6:30 am Mass during Advent beginning Dec. 3), participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and gather in prayer during the Advent season. Take a minute to learn more here. Make this Advent a season to remember.

Mass Days This Week: Students in 4K through 4th Grade attend Mass Tuesday, Dec. 4 with 4th Grade leading and students in 5th through 8th Grades attend Thursday, Dec. 6 with 6th Grade leading. Parents and family members -- please join us!

There will be an exchange so you'll go home with another mom's favorite thing. Sign up here. The Home and School Association looks forward to seeing you!

Spring Musical Meeting Dec. 7: St. Charles will once again partner with Lake Country Playhouse to present the Spring Musical and this year the play is Willy Wonka, Jr. Students in 2nd through 8th Grade will be eligible to take part in the play. There is a parent meeting on Friday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 pm in the IMC to learn more information. The meeting will last about 30-45 minutes. The play will be performed the first weekend of April with weekly practices in February and March. More details to come!
