Reminders For A Busy Week & The Second Full Week Of Lent
Please take a minute to peruse the latest events so you can be up-to-date on school news.
Silent Entrance On Monday, March 18: Once again we will have Silent Entrance and Silent Exit each week during Lent. As your children enter school Monday morning please remind them to be calm and quiet and to make minimal noise as they enter their classrooms. We will have a Silent Exit on Friday, March 22 at dismissal.
Lenten Spiritual Opportunities: There are many ways to pray, give alms and sacrifice this Lent. Visit this LINK to find how you can deepen your Lenten experience. Also, the Rosary Group meets on Wednesday, March 20 in the Life Teen Cafe at 8:30 am. Join us for about 20-25 minutes to say the rosary. It's a powerful bit of time and the rewards are great.
Help Needed During Lunch Week Of March 25: We are in need of lunch and playground supervisors the week of March 25. The shift is from 11:30 am to 1 pm and includes overseeing lunch in the Parish Hall and then heading outside to watch students during recess. These are easy volunteers hours and you can earn DOUBLE HOURS. If you are short on hours this is a great opportunity. We need one person for each day Monday through Friday March 25-29. Please contact the School Office through email or by phone at 262-367-2040 if you can help. Thank you in advance!
School Masses This Week: Grades 4K through 4th Grade attend Mass Tuesday, March 19 with the 4th Grade leading. Students in 5th through 8th Grades will attend Thursday, March 14 with 8th Graders leading. Please join us for Mass each day which begins at 8:30 am.
Dress Down Wednesday, March 20: Student Council is organizing a March Madness Dress Down on Wednesday, March 20. Wear your favorite college t-shirt or sweatshirt with jeans or sweats. No leggings or yoga pants unless they are under skirts or dresses.
Student Council is also collecting food for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry from Monday, March 18 through Wednesday, March 20. Some items in need are sugar, chili, baked beans, Progresso and chunky meat-based soups and cream soups. Place the cans of food under the JOY sign on the window of the IMC in the upstairs hallway. Thank you for being generous and remembering almsgiving during Lent.
Finally, Student Council is running a March Madness Bracket Challenge for 5th through 8th Grades. This is how it works: Student Council will provide the students' teachers with brackets. Students who choose to participate are eligible if they have turned in cans of food for the Dress Down Day. These brackets are due to Student Council by the morning of Wednesday, March 20. Please, only one bracket per student.
Student Council will keep track of the brackets and make announcements on who is leading the challenge during the competition. Winners will receive a prize at the end. For questions please contact Middle School Social Studies Teacher Mrs. Nelson.
Report Cards Sent Home Last Thursday: Just a reminder that Report Cards for students in 1st through 5th Grades were sent home last Thursday, March 14. Check your child's backpack or folder for the report cards. If you have questions please contact your child's teacher.
Homework Club Tutors Needed: Our Homework Club needs 7th and 8th Grade students who can help younger students with homework. This is a terrific way to fulfill service hours for middle school students. The time commitment is small -- Mondays from 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm and there are only five more sessions left as the last day is Monday, April 29. Don't pass up this opportunity. It's fun and the younger kids enjoy working with middle schoolers. Contact Mrs. Henkel if you can help.
Have You Registered Your Child For St. Charles Track & Field: Mark your calendars for the first practice which is this Thursday, March 21 at St. Charles. Practices are on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at St. Charles or the Arrowhead track. Athletes of all abilities are welcome as long as they have a desire to do their best. Students in 5th through 8th grade who attend St. Charles Parish School or child formation classes or Queen of Apostles or St. Teresa of Calcutta's religious education programs are welcome to join the team. The online registration is HERE! The team is also looking for any high school students or adults who would like to help coach. If you have questions email track@stcharleshartland.org. Please note track photos will take place at 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 21 and there will be a parent meeting on Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 pm.
